The Service We Provide

ClearMile provides motor insurance for taxi and private hire vehicle drivers. When you buy a policy through ClearMile:

  • We offer insurance underwritten by a single insurer, New India Assurance Company Limited. We do not search the market or compare quotes from other insurers, and we cannot offer you a choice of insurer for this product
  • We do not give you a personal recommendation or advice about whether this policy is suitable for you
  • It is your responsibility to check that the cover, limits, and excesses meet your needs. You should read the Policy Document and Insurance Product Information Document (IPID) provided with your quote before you buy

Paying by instalments

If you choose to pay for your annual insurance by Direct Debit instead of in full, you are applying for a finance agreement. ClearMile acts as a credit broker, not a lender, to arrange this on your behalf, and we introduce customers exclusively to Premium Credit Limited.

We do not charge you a fee for this introduction, but we do receive commission from Premium Credit Limited for credit broking arrangements with our customers. Paying by instalments will incur additional fees and interest, meaning you will pay more in total than if you paid annually in full. Full details are set out separately at the point you choose to pay monthly.

How we are paid

We may receive income in connection with policies arranged through ClearMile, which can include:

  • Commission from the insurer for arranging your policy
  • Fees for arranging your insurance and managing your account
  • Commission from Premium Credit Limited where you choose to pay by instalments

This income is separate from, and does not increase, the premium you are quoted. Further information about our remuneration is available on request.

Handling Money

We act as agent of the insurer for the purposes of collecting premiums and handling refunds. This means that once you pay us, your premium is treated as if it has been paid directly to the insurer. Premiums are held in a bank account designated for this purpose, which is operated by our regulatory principal, MGA Managers Limited, on behalf of the insurer.

Cancellation

You have the right to cancel your policy within 14 days of the start date of your policy, or the date you receive your policy documents, whichever is later, without giving any reason.

  • If you cancel within this period and have not made a claim, you will receive a full refund of premium, less a charge for any time you have been on cover and any applicable administration fee
  • If you cancel outside this period and have not made a claim, we will refund the premium for the exact number of days left on the policy less an administration charge of £50.00
  • If you are paying by instalments, cancelling your policy will also end your finance agreement with Premium Credit Limited, and any amount owed to them will become due
  • In the event of a claim occurring during the period of insurance we will retain the full annual premium
